Pat Steir

Pat Steir is a renowned American painter and printmaker, celebrated for her distinctive approach to abstract art. Born in Newark, New Jersey, in 1940, Steir studied at the Pratt Institute in New York, where she received a comprehensive education in the arts. She emerged on the art scene in the 1970s, initially associated with the Conceptual Art and Minimalism movements. However, Steir soon developed her own unique style, characterized by her innovative use of dripping and splattering paint techniques. Her work often explores themes of nature and spirituality, drawing inspiration from Eastern philosophies and traditional Chinese painting.
